EAST vs. WEST
2006 - 2008 OFFICIAL RULES
SUPER STREET DIVISION

MODELS:

1. Must be 1964 or later American manufactured sedan.
2. Minimum wheelbase of 105”.

BODIES GUIDELINES:

1. Bodies should be semi stock appearing. Sides must contour to resemble stock appearance. No late model wedge style front noses allowed. Steel or aluminum bodies only. No GRT or LM styles allowed
2. All nosepieces or front covers must be Five Star, Performances etc.
3. Roofs must be steel , aluminum, or fiberglass stock appearing.
4. Rear deck may be flat or may slope downward to rear of car.
5. Max spoiler allowed 6”x 60”. No sides. Face of spoiler 6”
6. Overall width of body not to accede 78” at widest point.
7. 5” max. Plastic body skirt ok.
8. Complete steel floor pan / firewall. Must extend frame to frame. Right side may be raised to accommodate exhaust, no higher than drive line tunnel.
9. Drivers may enclose driver’s compartment.
10. All cars must have 5” tall windshield visor painted black for division sponsor logo. NO EXCEPTIONS.
11. Drivers side windshield area must be covered with wire mesh with a minimum Ľ” opening or maximum of 1” openings.
12. Window net mandatory. Strict enforcement on secure mounting. No zip ties or pop riveting. Hard mounting only.

BUMPERS:

1. All bumpers must be located in stock location.
2. Both front and back bumpers must be strapped to body and chained to frame rails. (No straps, no racing, no exceptions).
3. Tubular bumpers may be under front nosepiece, main tube not to be more than 1 3/4” OD single tube only, no doubling up.
4. Rear bumper to be factory stock aluminum or steel construction. Rear bumper must be mounted no higher than 20” from ground to center of bumper.

NUMBERS:

1. All numbers must be a minimum of 20” tall and 4” wide.
2. All cars must have a number on the roof and left and right side doors.
3. Please use colors that contrast the rest of the car. This will help eliminate scoring problems.
4. Headlight & tail light number required.
5. No duplicate numbers allowed.
6. Absolutely no offensive lettering allowed on car.

ROLL CAGES:

1. All cages must be made of .095 tubing no less than 1 ˝” O.D.
2. Must have a minimum of four (4) left side door bars.
3. All cages must have a diagonal bar running from top to bottom behind driver’s seat.
4. No galvanized pipe allowed.
5. All roll cages will be strictly inspected. If found unsafe the car will not race.
6. S.M.P. highly suggests 1/8” thick door bar plate on driver side.

SEATS AND SEATBELTS:

1. All seats must be padded aluminum racing seats.
2. No seat may be mounted directly to floor pan. Seat must be mounted to roll cage at no less than four (4) points.
3. A five- (5) point safety harness, with quick release is mandatory with a 3” wide lap belt, 3” shoulder belts, and a 2” submarine belt. All belts must be attached to roll cage.
4. All belts must be kept up to date. Must have date of manufacture and must be within 3 years of present date. This is for your safety.

CHASSIS AND SUSPENSION:

1. Frame must be full OEM frame rails.
2. Tube type upper adjustable A-arms allowed.
3. Control arm that supports coil spring must be stock.
4. Rear clip may be made of 2" x 3" steel tubing. Tubing must extend to the rear bumper. Rear spring mounts must be a minimum of 40" apart measured inside to inside.
5. Uni – body cars may tie in frame rails front to rear.
6. Weight jacks are allowed. No weight jacking controls allowed inside of drivers compartment.
7. Racing spring and racing shocks may be used (no coil over or coil over eliminator). Heim end type shocks OK.
8. No external reservoir shocks, no external adjustable shocks (dials, screws etc.). No aluminum body shocks allowed.
9. Rebuildable and revalveable shocks allowed.
10. Maximum four shocks allowed on car. 1 shock per wheel only.
11. Leaf spring sliders are allowed.
12. All cars must have original type suspension. Leaf springs on Camaros, Firebirds, Novas; coil springs on Monte Carlos, Malibus, Oldsmobiles, etc.
13. No mono-leaf springs. No composite.
14. Rear firewall may be fabricated but must be height of dash panel and extend entire width of 4 point.
15. Adjustable lowering blocks O.K.

REAR ENDS:

1. No quick-change rear ends allowed.
2. Must be steel or cast iron rear end housing.
3. Floaters with disc brakes are recommended.
4. Coil cars must have four (4) links. Adjustable upper links OK. Stock lowers w/multi-hole locations OK. Offset bolts OK. No panhard or J-bar allowed.
5. No gold track or ratchet rear ends allowed.
6. No wide fives allowed.

STEERING:

1. Steering box must be mounted in stock location.
2. Power steering, quick steer boxes allowed.
3. No racks and pinion steering allowed.

BRAKES:

1. Must have three (3) working brakes at all times.
2. Adjustable valves may be used for front to rear brake bias only.
3. Front brake calipers and rotors must be OEM-steel components only. Rear calipers and rotors must be steel. After market OK. No aluminum. Single piston only. Right front rotor may be altered.

ENGINES:

1. 365 ci max size. No dry sump. Cast iron blocks only. No titanium.
2. Any steel rod allowed. No titanium or aluminum rods allowed.
3. Any cast iron or steel head allowed. Chevy 23 degree +/- 1 degree only. Ford 22 degree +/- 1 degree. No touch head rule for 2007.
4. No roller cams or roller lifters allowed. Any rocker arm is allowed.
5. Wet sump only. Must have a 1” inspection plug installed in side of pan inline with at least one connecting rod. If no inspection plug, driver is responsible for pulling oil pan or drilling inspection hole or D.Q.
6. No titanium allowed in motors.

CRATE ENGINE:

1.GM create engine part number 8604 allowed.
2.One 4 barrel 650 CFM carburetor allowed. Holley # 80541-1 or Demon # 5282010GC
3.Minimum weight 3000 lbs. (pounds)

INTAKE MANIFOLD:

1. Any available aftermarket cast aluminum intake manifold may be used.
2. May be port matched to 1” each end.
3. Maximum of 1” spacer plate between intake and carburetor.
4. Maximum height 7 ˝” from the valley to the plenum.
5. No inserts of any kind.

CARBURETOR:

1. One (1) Holly 500 CFM. Two barrel carburetor (no. 4412 only).
2. May change jetting.
3. No after market performance meter blocks, subject to tech.
4. 1 11/16” throttle bore, 1 3/8” main venturi.
5. Two- (2) throttle springs mandatory.
6. May remove choke tower.
7. Carburetor must pass all go- no go gauges.

EXHAUST:

1. Must run a muffler and must not exceed the 95 dB limit at 100 feet.
2. No exhaust of any kind allowed in driver’s compartment.
3. All exhaust system must extend past the driver’s seat.
4. Headers allowed. No 180 degree Header. No over the top type.

IGNITIONS:

1. No magnetos allowed.
2. All battery-powered ignitions will be allowed.
3. Ignition boxes must be placed in clear view of tech inspector and out of reach of driver. All boxes subject to tech inspection at all times.
4. No tampering of ignition boxes such as ETC (electronic traction control) or timing control devices. Absolutely no JUNK allowed altering engine performance during race conditions. Subject to $2000.00 fine and suspension of racing for 1 year.
5. One ignition box per car at any time.
6. Any Bakersfield Speedway member may protest any ignition box for $200.00 plus shipping and handling. Shipping and handling is red label overnight express, if box is found illegal, protestor will receive $150.00 and $50.00 going to Bakersfield Speedway. If found legal, protestie will receive $150.00 and $50.00 going to Bakersfield Speedway.

STARTERS:

1. All cars will have a working starter in stock location.
2. Kill switch must be labeled and easily accessed by driver or safety workers.

CLUTCH AND TRANSMISSION:

1. Any clutch will be allowed.
2. Automatic transmissions may use a coupler instead of a torque converter.
3. All transmissions will be OEM production type transmission.
4. Richmond transmission OK.

DRIVELINE:

1. No aluminum drivelines.
2. Must be painted white and strapped in two (2) locations.

FUEL AND FUEL SYSTEMS:

1. No electric fuel pumps allowed.
2. Must use gasoline only (no alcohol).
3. All cars must have fuel cells with a chain on the cap.
4. Maximum fuel cell size is 22 gallons.
5. All fuel cells will be strapped all the way around (top, sides and bottom) two (2) times.
6. Any fuel line running through the driver’s compartment must be housed in a steel sleeve.
7. Driver’s compartment must be sealed from both engine and fuel cell.
8. All cars require the use of a check valve (roll over valve) on the vent.

WHEELS AND TIRES:

1. Maximum rim (wheel) width is 8”. All wheels must be steel.
2. Bead-locks may be used on all four (4) corners.
3. Hoosier Dirt boss spec tire: P245/60D15 Medium; P255/60D15 Medium; P265/60D15 Medium only.
4. No grooving or sipping.

WEIGHT:

1. Minimum weight is 3,000 lbs. (pounds). There may be a random check at any time during event.
2. All ballast weight must be painted white and have the car’s number legibly painted on it.
3. All weight must be mounted by a min of two 5/8” bolts or two weight mounts.
4. Any ballast weight dropped on racing surface will result in an automatic disqualification.
5. All mounting is subject to strict inspection.

MISCELLANEOUS:

1. Batteries may be mounted in trunk area. Mounting will be strictly inspected.
2. No radios. No rear view mirrors allowed.
3. All cars must be equipped with a minimum 2-lb. (pounds) dry chemical fire extinguisher. Extinguisher must be mounted in driver’s compartment and must be accessible to driver. Must have a quick release mount.
4. Helmet/Suit: 2000 Snell approved helmet mandatory. All helmets will be full-face types. Eye protection is mandatory. Fire suits and gloves are mandatory, must be free of holes and clean of oils and fuels.
5. Neck brace required at all times.
6. Equipment will not be considered legal simply because it went through inspection unobserved, or because a rule has not been written excluding it.
